چکیده
Abstract Background Pharyngocutaneous fistula (PCF) is considered the most common suffering complication in laryngectomized patients. PCF occurs variably from 10 to 20% and sometimes reaches more than 60%, as a result of combination local systemic factors related poor tissue healing wound breakdown. Development affects restoration normal life after laryngectomy that could potentially lead major complications affecting patient survival. Aim study We studied role blue dye test early detection post-laryngectomy, which optimum management can reduce duration hospital stay well out salivary leakage. Results Out 64 patients who underwent TL Jan 2020 till Dec 2021 at Tertiary Head Neck Cancer Center, 40 were included study. All these barium swallow standard postoperative leak test. Patients’ characteristics associated comorbidities have been findings compared swallow, including median time for diagnosis PCF, duration, plan, additional tests, length stay. Conclusion Blue gives good clue with proper eventually recovery cost, morbidity, It be repeatedly performed establish simple, reliable, safe bedside tool follow-up.
